It’s hard to believe that I’m already at week 16 of my pregnancy. Following Christmas, everything has gone uphill symptom-wise. I no longer have constant nausea, my energy is up *close* to where it used to be, and my skin has finally stopped resembling that of a teenage girl (aka- zits are gone!).
I am back in the swing of exercise and have been doing quite well at running intervals on the treadmill. It’s definitely funny seeing the other gym-goers playing that “is she pudgy or is she pregnant” game. Hopefully my belly rounds out soon, so it’s easier to tell, haha! I also try to do a bit of upper body training every time I’m at the gym. Gotta get these arms ready to haul around a baby :) I definitely want to add more stretching and yoga to the mix. I’ve heard great things from other mommas-to-be. I checked out a few DVDs from the library, so I’ll let you know how those go!
It feels good to be in the “groove” of this pregnancy. The first trimester was really difficult, and when every mom told me that “it gets better,” I wasn’t sure it would ever happen for me. Thank goodness it did! I don’t have much new to report otherwise. Baby M and I had a doctor’s appointment last week where I got to hear his/her little heartbeat – it took Dr. T a long time to get a good read on our active little baby. Baby M kept wiggling around and kicking which created “whomp” sounds that overpowered the heartbeat. I think we have a swimmer, gymnast or kick boxer on our hands!
I did my quad screen at my last appointment, so we’ll be getting those results early next week. I haven’t thought about it much, since I learned early that worrying is no way to spend 9 months! Still saying my prayers for good results though! Our next appointment is February 6th. We’ll be doing a full ultrasound and finding out if Baby M is a boy or girl! We are SO excited to find out and will be thrilled either way. I am convinced it’s a boy and J is sure it’s a girl – maybe we should start a friendly wager (winner picks dinner which is a high prize around here these days)! February 6 marks another special occasion for J and I – it’s the 4 year anniversary of our 1st date! How cool is that?! From dinner at Old Chicago to an ultrasound for our baby all in 4 years! Pretty amazing :)
