I’m guessing I’m not going to be the first (or the last) mom to admit that my personal care routine has severely suffered since becoming a parent. At the end of a long day, my teeth get brushed, my contacts get taken out, and anything else is considered gravy. That is, until I met with the Complexion Concierge.

I was introduced to Anna Lise through my friend Erin, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Between dealing with strange pregnancy side effects (acne, dryness, etc), and wondering how/if I’ll ever shower again with 2 children under the age of two, her expect advice was sorely needed.

Anna Lise specializes in creating skincare routines that fit both her client’s skin type AND lifestyle. With me, she was basically starting from scratch.

We started by going through the products I was currently using. I won’t bore you with the nitty gritty details, but let’s just say if it was a test, I would have FAILED. (I guess randomly picking up products off the shelf/using free samples from Sephora isn’t the best skincare strategy haha.)

Next up we discussed my skin type, any concerns I had, and how much time I was willing commit to the process. I gave her 5 minutes morning and night – and that was being generous ;)

Anna Lise took all of this information and put together a comprehensive plan of recommendations for everything from cleanser to sunscreen. I was blown away and immediately started putting my new routine in place.

Here’s a glimpse at what’s working for me:

I’ve been following Anna Lise’s suggestions for 2 weeks now, and here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  1. It REALLY doesn’t have to take long. Everything goes on under my 5 minute limit!
  2. Yes, my skin looks better, but I also FEEL better about myself. Spending the time to take care of myself totally changes my mindset in the morning, and is a nice relief at the end of the night.
  3. Price means nothing. I was able to order my complete skincare line-up for roughly the same amount I had been spending on my faulty (and incomplete) products.
  4. Get your act together with sunscreen. NONE of the products I was previously using contained any SPF and that was a big oversight on my part. Anna Lise is actually going to be posting here on Makingmine explaining the importance of SPF and how best to go about implementing it into your routine!

If you’re looking to start up or revamp an existing skincare routine, I highly recommend working with The Complexion Concierge. All of her consults happen virtually over Skype, so she can meet anywhere, anytime – doesn’t get much easier than that!

Be sure to watch for Anna Lise’s guest posts on SPF and exfoliation! She’ll have tons of great info just in time for summer :)

Your turn:
Do you have a dedicated skincare routine?
What’s one area of personal care you want to improve?

*Anna Lise provided me her consulting services free of charge, but I purchased all applicable products on my own. Totally worth it! :)
