Creating your Father’s Day spinner

The first step in creating your spinner is to download and print off this PDF. I’ve made it easy for you by including all the cut lines and the lyrics to Skinnamarink!

Simply cut around the outer circles and remove the wedge from the top piece (this is where you’ll be able to see through the spinner).

Put the kiddos to work!

Once your circles are ready, it’s your kiddo’s turn to shine! Grab your favorite crayons or markers to get decorating! Eleanor had a brand new artfolio from buybuy BABY that she couldn’t wait to use for such a special project!

Elephants are kind of a big deal around here (since E = Eleanor, Everly and Elephant), so when I found these adorable elephant artfolios, I knew my girls just had to have them! We even personalized them with their names to keep them straight!

Art on the go

Each little carrying case comes with twelve crayons and a pad of blank paper. Super cute and perfect for outdoor crafting or keeping little ones busy in waiting rooms or restaurants!

Personalizing your Father’s Day spinner

For the top piece of the spinner, Eleanor drew our entire family and wrote “Dad” across the top. For the inside, she added some adorable illustrations for each part of the Skinnamarink day:

  • I love you in the morning: sun
  • And in the afternoon: rainbow
  • I love you in the evening: moon and stars
  • And underneath the moon: moon and night sky

She spent a long time picking the perfect colors from her little artfolio and thinking of just the right illustrations to add to her daddy’s present. It was so sweet to see her creative wheels in motion :)

The final touch

Once Eleanor was done coloring, she picked out a brad and we stuck it right through the middle of the circles. Ta-da! Your spinner is complete!

Now simply turn the bottom circle to see each section through the viewfinder! Dad will get a glimpse of all the times of day he is LOVED :)

One-of-a-kind (just like dad)

One of the things I absolutely love about this craft is that each child’s personality gets to shine through. No two spinners will EVER look the same!

This activity was a good test run with the girls’ new artfolios, and now they go with us pretty much anywhere we’re going to have a wait! And if elephants don’t happen to be your thing, you have to check out this adorable T-Rex version!

Pin this Father’s Day spinner craft to make for a special dad (or grandpa) in your life!
