Today is the best kind of “Try it Tuesday” because it involves food…. good food :)
Last week I was lucky enough to attend the #feedthefire event at Firehouse Subs. I had no idea what to expect, but it ended up being a really fun night! One of the founding brothers, Robin Sorensen, was in attendance to give us a brief history of how the restaurant was started, his philosophy on food, and his hands-on approach to growing the restaurant nationwide. Want the Cliffnotes? Hungry firefighters = big, tasty subs :)
His passion for Firehouse Subs was obvious and it was really cool to see how much time, effort and care goes into each and every menu item. We got to taste 4 different HUGE sandwiches – my favorites were the Hook and Ladder and the Smokehouse Brisket (BBQ is always a winner)! Oh, and there were s’mores brownies to top it all off – not a bad night at all!
Beyond serving up delicious food, Firehouse Subs also serves the community through their Public Safety Foundation. Through customer donations (such as rounding up your bill to the nearest dollar), Firehouse Subs is able to provide equipment, education and disaster assistance to individuals and organizations in need. How cool!
I was also excited to hear that a “light” menu is being introduced next year where all of the items will be under 550 calories! It’s been dubbed the “Hearty and Tasty Menu,” so I don’t think they’ll be sacrificing any of their great flavor! I’ll definitely be returning to give it a try!
If you’re like me, and had never heard of Firehouse Subs, click here to find one in your area! With 680 locations and counting, chances are there’s one near you!
