here’s to 28

Hello hello! It’s my BIRTHDAY today! I woke up to a wonderful breakfast courtesy of Jeff and the girls. When I came downstairs, Eleanor proudly declared that she cracked the eggs and made the smoothie. I’m a pretty lucky mama!

As I sit here drinking the last of my coffee and trying to avoid cutting into the strawberry wedding cake I know is tucked away in the fridge, I’m having lots of thoughts about year 28.

Our family already declared 2016 the year of doing “nothing” – no babies, no job changes, no moving, no life altering decisions… just enjoying our time together. But for me, saying “no” to big life events has opened up the opportunity to focus inward again.

I’ve had 1 month in the past 3+ years where I wasn’t pregnant or nursing. I can honestly say, that I don’t really know what it means to be my own person anymore. I want 28 to be a year of self-growth.

I’d like to run a half marathon this fall, learn more about yoga, and finally teach myself how to use my camera. I’d like to plan a vacation with my kids, plan a vacation WITHOUT my kids, and get back into baking. I’d like to start sewing again, reading for fun, and spending more time with my girlfriends.

So maybe 28 won’t be life changing, but I have a feeling it will be the best year yet!

I hope you’ll stay with me for the ride :)
