Makingmine Feature: Lesley Moore

Happy Friday! We’ve finally made it to the weekend! Jeff and I have a busy couple of days ahead of us but it’s going to be filled with family and fun, so we’re really excited!

Today’s Makingmine Feature is Lesley Moore. Lesley has an amazing story – take a look at everything she’s been checking off her bucket list! She has a couple of things I want to add to mine – who knew Disney had so many fun races?! Make sure you head over to her blog when you’re finished here!

Q: What’s your passion? What are you “making” with your life?
Running. It is my outlet. Running has helped me in every part of my life. I pray when I run and grow closer to Christ. I makes me healthy and active which gives me the energy to keep up with my 6 year old son. I make healthier choices because I’m a runner. Most of all, running changed my life for the better.

Q: Tell us your story – how did you get started?
In October 2012 I stepped on the scales and realized I weighed over 200 pounds! I knew I had to change my lifestyle right then and there. I had always dreamt of running runDisney’s Princess Half Marathon but it was never a realistic goal of mine. That day I decided to turn my dream into a reality.

I began eating right and exercising at the gym regularly and I started running. I made a goal January 2013 to run one race a month for a year, ending in January 2014. I have now run several 5K, 8K and 10K races. I will run Disney’s Tower of Terror 10-Miler next month. Most importantly, I am registered to run the Princess Half marathon in February 2014!

Q: How would you define success?
Success to me is accomplishing goals, one goal at a time. I like to check things off of my “fitness bucket list”. I don’t have to place for my age, and I can even be the last one to cross the finish line-I just have to finish.


Q: What advice would you give others who want to pursue their dream or make a change in their life?
Do not give into peer pressure. When I started to lose weight everyone seemed to either compete with me or tried to tempt me to cheat. Especially friends and family! It was very disappointing and challenging!

Q: What’s next for you?
I am running runDisney’s Tower of Terror 10-Miler in October and runDisney’s Princess Half Marathon in February 2014. I am running a few 5K races in between.
