J and I decided early on that we didn’t want to do extravagant gifts, but we did want to give each other something meaningful the day of our wedding. I set myself a $50 budget and got to work. My gift had two parts – one sentimental and one fun. Both were uniquely “us.”
The first was a vintage pocket watch that I had engraved with “J+J” and our wedding date. I stopped the time at 2:00 – the minute I’d be walking down the aisle to meet him. The pocket watch captured the vintage feel of the day and the engraving added a personal touch. He carried it in his pocket all day and it now has a prominent place in our home (more on that later).
The second part of J’s gift was quirky and 100% him – Superman cufflinks. J is a sucker for superheroes, and he’s my very own Superman. I ordered the cufflinks from Super Sock on Etsy. They were made from vintage comic book pages and coordinated perfectly with J’s attire for the day. The cufflinks were a subtle way to add some personality to his look – even if your guy isn’t a superhero fan, there are tons of different cufflink options to add some fun to the day!
For the wrapping, I used comic book pages and washi tape. I think it turned out really cute and the boxes can be kept to store the mementos in.
