Monday mornings are notoriously rough. Actually mornings any day of the week have never been my forte! However, two months of motherhood have forced me to adapt, and I have a new routine that works really well:
5:00am Eleanor wakes up like clockwork. Jeff does diaper duty, I nurse her, and lay her back in her crib for a cat nap before sneaking down to the kitchen. It’s my 30 minutes of “me time” before Eleanor is officially awake for the day. Coffee is my 1st priority, but then it’s time to start searching for something to eat!
I’ve always been a big breakfast person (we weren’t allowed to leave the house without it as kids), so the pantry is usually well stocked. Oatmeal is a favorite of mine because it keeps me full through the morning, so when I heard about MyOatmeal.com a couple of weeks ago, I had to try it out!
It’s seriously the coolest concept – you can customize an oatmeal blend to pretty much any flavor you could imagine with the option of adding fun add-ins like dried fruit and nuts. Click here to see the HUGE list of flavors! You just use their easy online tool and your order is shipped straight to your door! I was lucky enough to score a couple of free bags and had a blast coming up with awesome signature creations!
1st up – Cookie Delicious
Rolled Instant Oats
Cookie Dough Flavor w/ Brown Cane Sugar
The Verdict? It seriously tastes like cookie dough. I usually use 1/2 the suggested amount of water when I make oatmeal because I prefer it to be a thicker consistency, and it definitely lends itself well to the idea of cookie dough. It’s so good that it seems wrong to be eating it for breakfast :)
2nd up – Apple Yum Yum
Rolled Instant Oats
Apple Cobbler Flavor w/ Brown Cane Sugar
The Verdict? It is just what you would expect out of apple – so good! The flax and almonds also add great texture! I’ll certainly be using more add-ins in the future!
I definitely want to try some different flavors next time and get a bit more adventurous – there are over 22 billion combinations possible! I’m thinking peanut butter and strawberry shortcake both sound awesome (not together though, haha)!
Because my Monday is just a bit more marvelous with a good breakfast, I’m linking up with Katie from Healthy Diva Life!
If you were to create your own blend, what would you choose?
