Hey mamas! We made our first trip to Vala’s pumpkin patch this week, so we’re officially in full on pumpkin mode around here! We did season passes this year, so I’m going to do my best to get the girls there at least once a week. And based on how much fun we had, I don’t think I’ll hear any complaints from them ;)
Pumpkin Patch Prep
Before we headed out for our first fall adventure, I packed up an extra special snack. Hy-Vee just re-released some awesome cereals, and I knew Honey Maid S’mores would be the perfect pumpkin patch treat.
With a toddler and preschooler in tow, there was no bonfire planned this time, but I think this yummy mix made the perfect substitute for campfire s’mores. And from a mom’s perspective, it was WAY less messy ;)
When we got to Vala’s, we zig-zagged to all of our favorite attractions, and just like last year, Everly was 100% enthralled with the (creepy?) singing scarecrows. She thinks they’re hilarious, haha! Eleanor was much more interested in finding Cinderella’s coach.
We took a hayrack ride out to the pumpkin patch but didn’t end up picking any to take home this trip. I think I need to get the kiddie pool and sprinkler put away before I can commit to pumpkins!
It was still fun watching the girls’ delight every time they’d discover a pumpkin hiding in the sea of stems and leaves.
By the time we got back, it was definitely snack time! Both girls LOVED their special s’mores snacks. Everly was particularly fond of the marshmallow pieces, so she convinced Eleanor to trade to get more, haha!
And yes, of course I snuck a few bites for myself!
As we were leaving, I caved and let the girls each pick a teeny tiny pumpkin to take home. They’re both sitting up on our mantel now, and I have to admit, it does give our house a cozier feel (even in this 90* heat). Maybe I’ll be ready to buy the “real deal” on our next trip ;)
