On my quest to do at least one 5k race each month of 2014, I found myself with two great races in March – the Blarney Stone and the Diva Dash.
First up was the Blarney Stone 5k which naturally was held on St. Patrick’s Day. It was coordinated by the BRIN Running Series which had put on the Kicks ‘n Kisses event in February. Again, the race was wonderfully organized, and I love, love, LOVED the route! It took us out over the pedestrian bridge and back again. I’m not a fan of races with a ton of turnarounds, so this was just perfect!
Jeff and I ran with our friends Erin and Josh – we love having a couple to do fun, active things with!
The weather was great, people were dressed in their Irish finest, and there was booze at the end – what more could you need? It also turned out to be my best post-baby 5k time yet! Yay!
The Diva Dash was held the following Saturday. Our team, the Pavement Princesses, had gotten together a few weeks prior to make matching tutus. They turned out really cute (although sparkly tulle is messier than I ever expected) and were perfect for the all women’s event.
It was a FREEZING cold morning which was kind of a bummer, and the route was SUPER hilly! The hills were actually a saving grace because they distracted me from the fact that my fingers and toes were icicles!
I ran the last mile with one of my teammates, Molly, and we did a great job motivating each other to keeeeeeeep running! All things considered, my time was decent, but I definitely still have room for improvement. I did have the world’s cutest cheerleader though…
Jeff and I have our next race coming up this weekend. It’s a Totally Rad 80’s run, so I’m sure the costumes will be epic! We’re considering running with Eleanor depending on the weather. It’s about time we made our 5k’s a family affair :)
Keep your fingers crossed for a SUNNY weekend!
