I was so excited to find out that I had been matched with Foodie Penpals creator, Lindsay, for the month of September. I had a blast participating for the 1st time last month, so I got right to work when the penpal matches were sent out.
I love reading Lindsay’s blog The Lean Green Bean and it was fun getting to know her a little better! I told her that I’m not the most adventurous grocery shopper, so she did an awesome job putting together a box of items that I normally wouldn’t have put in my weekly cart!
When the box arrived, Ruby pup was just as excited as I was :)
Here’s the rundown:
1. Green Lentils – Simple Truth Organic
I tried a lentil soup recipe last fall that I LOVED, but I hadn’t cooked with them since. I made it again and liked it just as much! Have a lentil recipe I should try? Send it to me! :)
2. Super Oats Chia Nuts & Seeds / Strawberry Raspberry Hot Oats – Love Grown Foods
These oats are amazing! I’ve been having them for breakfast every morning with a little bit of honey to sweeten it up. Unlike traditional oatmeal, this mix has lots of texture and a little crunch. I love eating something warm in the mornings (especially as the weather gets cooler), and oatmeal keeps me full until lunch! I also love that I can pop it in the microwave – I need something fast when there’s a hungry baby to feed!
3. Pomegranate Blueberry Pistachio Bars – KIND
I see KIND bars everywhere, but I’ve never tried them. They’re SO good! I’ll definitely be picking up some more flavors to try!
4. Toasted Coconut Almonds – Blue Diamond / Tropical Almond Mix – Stewart & Jasper
I love snacking on almonds. In fact, I keep them by Eleanor’s rocking chair to eat while I nurse. These coconut flavored ones are great, but a little too sweet to eat all at once. I’ve been mixing them in with my regular almonds to add just a little flavor!
The tropical almond mix was a perfect snack to throw in the diaper bag. It had all kinds of goodies in it: almonds, papaya, pineapple, coconut, mangos, bananas, raisins, and cranberries!
5. Dark Chocolate Dreams – Peanut Butter & Co.
Oh. My. Gosh. My FAVORITE item in the box! Jeff and I have been making smoothies with it – banana, greek yogurt, milk, ice, and a bit of this dark chocolate peanut butter! So good! I’ve also seen Jeff sneaking it to dip apple slices in. I have a feeling it won’t last much longer!
6. Gone Nuts! Clusters of Cacao – Living Intentions
These chewy, bite sized clusters were another great snack! They were much sweeter than I expected, but really good. They have many different flavors to try too!
7. Nutritional Yeast Seasoning – Bragg
This is the only item I haven’t used yet. I see bloggers adding it to dishes all the time, so I’m just going to have to take the plunge. Do you use nutritional yeast seasoning? Any yummy recommendations?
