six classic items for every mom’s closet

With two little girls to dress, feed, and prep for the day, my own morning routine is often the last priority. And to be quite honest, that has resulted in many, many days spent in yoga pants and last night’s pajama top… yes, even in public ;)

A couple months ago, inspired by reading KonMari and following way too many capsule wardrobe bloggers on Instagram, I decided to adopt a bit of a personal “mom uniform.”

clean and simple "mom style"
I wanted something clean and simple that I could throw on each morning with very little effort – all while looking put together.

My wardrobe needed to transition from play group to nursing sessions to scrubbing sippy cups to drinks with friends. And I think I’ve finally found something that works!

6 classic items for every mom's closet

  1. A trusty v-neck
I’m 100% obsessed with the tees from Everlane. I own almost every cut in both black and white, but the classic v-neck is my favorite!
  2. A sturdy pair of skinny jeans
All of my jeans used to have the tendency of stretching out after about an hour of wear. I recently bought two different washes of these kensie Ankle Biter Skinnies, and they hold their shape ALL DAY. Even after crawling around the floor chasing my kiddos!uncommon goods simple timeless jewelry
  3. Simple, timeless jewelry
UnCommonGoods recently sent me a few pieces of their one-of-a-kind jewelry. I am completely in love with the two-toned necklace, bracelet, and cuff I received.Overall, I’m a minimalist and not all that great at remembering to put on jewelry, but I wear this Links of Love necklace daily and switch out my bracelet depending on my scheduled activities. I love how it all complements my favorite watch too!clean and simple jewelry
  4. A comfy pair of flats
Tieks are my current faves for going out and about with the girls. They’re comfy, stylish, and add a pop of color to my outfit!
  5. A killer pair of wedges
High heels just don’t cut it anymore when I’m juggling two kids. If I want some height or to dress up an outfit, I much prefer wedges these days. I just bought these from Steve Madden, and I don’t think I’ll ever take them off!
  6. A versatile poncho
Yeah, I said poncho, haha! I’m totally obsessed with this top I bought from Athleta. I wear it to and from the gym, out running errands, and around the house. I never know what the temp is going to be like throughout the day, so layers are my best friend!
