We did something a little different with our cooking adventure this month. Instead of picking a specific dish to concentrate on, we had a theme, “Be our Guest!”  And you guessed it… we hosted our very own afternoon tea party! I wish we could have hosted all of you, but this post will have to do ;)

The afternoon was complete with fancy china and itty bitty sandwiches. Actually the only thing missing was tea itself. We opted for some warm apple cider instead! We kept the menu light and fresh and everything turned out beautifully!

After our pasta salad was made and cooling in the fridge, Hannah and Erin took point on the cucumber sandwiches while I finished up the cookies.

Everything was super simple and came together in a snap. Before we knew it, it was time to eat – now that’s my kind of cooking ;)

We started things off with sandwiches made on little slices of rye bread spread with cream cheese and cucumber rounds. Hannah added a bit of salt to hers, but I ate mine plain and it was delicious! You can also see a vegan version on her post.

The Feta Basil Basalmic Pasta Salad was fresh, flavorful and the perfect accompaniment to the sandwiches. Let’s be real – anything with feta is amazing :)

And what’s a tea party without some sweets? These Fruit Galette Cookies were the perfect end to our meal. We used raspberry preserves for the filling between two soft, buttery cookies.

I’ll be completely honest and tell you that I chose this recipe because my pregnant self has been CRAVING Harry & David raspberry shortbread cookies. These totally did the trick, and I’ll definitely be making them again! :)

Ready to party! No surprise Eleanor was a BIG fan of the cookies. Although my house looked like a murder scene when she was done – little raspberry red fingerprints EVERYWHERE haha!

So why a tea party? Hannah, Erin and I are having a girls night next weekend to see the premier of Beauty and the Beast here in Omaha, and we couldn’t be more excited! Get it, “Be our Guest?!”

We may not have had Chip or Mrs. Potts at our tea party, but we did our best to live up to Beauty and the Beast tea party standards :)
