8 x 10 Frame
Card + Wrapping
Creating your spinning world craft
Your first step will be to create your “world” using a technique called tissue paper bleeding. It’s super simple and fun for kids (and moms) of all ages!
- Tear your blue and green bleeding tissue paper into small, 1 inch pieces (no need for perfection here). Kids love this part!
- Use your paint brush to coat a layer of water on your card stock / water color paper.
- Lay down pieces of tissue in whatever pattern you’d like. Layering the tissue will add more vibrancy to your project, so feel free to lay it on thick!
- Once your pattern is set, brush on another layer of water.
- Let your tissue paper dry completely and then peel off the tissue paper! Your paper will be left with an incredible dyed transfer!
Assembling your craft
Now you’re ready to cut out your world using this circle template. Since Eleanor is only 3, I traced the circle onto the dyed water color paper, and cut it out for her with a pair of scissors.
I had her write “Daddy” at the top with a black marker before attaching the world to the background using a brad straight through the center of the page. This allows your world to spin round and round!
Now all that’s left is to pop it in a frame (remove the glass so dad can spin his world) and find the perfect card and wrapping! I couldn’t pass up this adorable American Greetings tissue paper!
The finishing touch
I found the absolute perfect card at Walmart for the girls to give Jeff! American Greetings had the best selection, and this particular card included the girls’ two very favorite things in the world: coloring and stickers!
The right card can say SO much, and this one will be the very best way to kick off a great Father’s Day! The girls are so excited to give it to him and have a little project to do together!
And can we talk about how easy gift bags + tissue paper make creating a stunning gift? I’m team gift bag forever :)
Make every day special
While we were at Walmart shopping for dad, I also picked up a couple of other cards I’ll be needing this summer! Eleanor’s birthday is this week, and I found *just* the right card for my little fairy princess. And friendship day is coming up in July, so I picked up this adorable bear card to let a girlfriend know I’m thinking of her.
I actually need to go back and pick up a few more cards because I just signed up to be a camp pen pal for a middle schooler from our church – I know American Greetings will have some fun options to brighten her day :)
Send a smile and save
Walmart has an awesome Ibotta offer this summer, so it’s a great time to stock up!
From 6/21–8/31 Purchase any American Greetings® Card at Walmart and Earn $1 on Ibotta.
There are so many fun and quirky holidays (did you know July 17 is “Hug your Kids Day?”), so there’s always a good reason to send a smile :)
