As all us mamas know, a good night’s sleep can make a world of difference when you have a household to run and kiddos to chase all day! And the best way to start my morning after a restful night’s sleep? How about waking up to this face…
Rested Baby = Happy Baby
I’ve always considered Everly a good sleeper. She goes to sleep easy, wakes once or twice per night to eat, and goes back to bed with no fuss. I mean sure, it would be GREAT if she slept through the whole night, but getting cuddles during a 3am nursing session isn’t the worst thing ever ;)
Other than simply being blessed with a happy sleeper, I think our nighttime routine has helped our girls establish good sleep habits.
Today I thought I would share my top four tips for better sleep. Someday us mamas will get a full night’s rest, but until then, here are some ideas to try :)
4 Tips for Better Sleep

1. Wind Down
We start winding down with Everly around 5:45. I slowly but surely take my rambunctious one year old and turn her into a snuggle bug who’s ready for a restful night’s sleep. We turn the music down, stop the rough and tumble playing, and transition to calmer activities like reading a few books with her big sister. Next I’ll take her up for a bath where she and I sing songs and have some quiet play time.
2. Get Comfy
After bath I let her air dry while I brush her teeth. Then I cozy her up in a Huggies OverNites diaper which keeps her skin dry and healthy all night. It also avoids any unfortunate overnight leakage and keeps her comfortable during long stretches of sleep. Then she’s ready for some snuggly jammies!
3. Set the Mood
The final piece of our nighttime routine is nursing one last time. Before I do, I get Everly’s room all ready for a good night’s sleep. I close her blinds, turn on her nightlight, and set the timer on her noise machine. As soon as she sees me start heading for the rocking chair, she starts rubbing her eyes – she knows bedtime is close now!
4. Stay Consistent
Sure, life happens and our routine gets thrown off. We’re flexible when we need to be, but for the most part, I try to keep bedtime as consistent as possible. When both mama and baby know what to expect, everything goes a bit smoother :)
Great Sleep at a Great Value
And since both Everly and I value a peaceful night’s sleep, we make sure we’re always stocked up on Huggies OverNites Diapers and our favorite Huggies Natural Care Wipes. We get ours at Target – I love that they regularly post discounts on the Cartwheel app!
