Paying it Forward with Stonyfield

Paying it Forward with Stonyfield

‘Tis the season to be GIVING!

As I learned during my farm tour trip out to Vermont this summer, Stonyfield is a company that has community at the heart of its mission. And this holiday season they empowered those of us in their YoGetters program to pay it forward in our own communities. Armed with a Visa gift card, we were challenged to do good and spread neighborly good fortune.

With bloggers all across the United States, this campaign is reaching far and wide and impacting all different kinds of wonderful causes! Here’s how our family has paid it forward…

Food for Kids Backpack Program

Our church runs a backpack program for students who are at-risk for hunger. They pack up nonperishable food items to send home to help support these families. While Eleanor was at school, Everly and I went shopping for applesauce, fruit cups, and crackers before dropping off our bags at church.

This weekend I actually got to see the volunteers in action getting everything packed up for the kids. It was amazing to see to results of a community coming together to support each other!

Food Bank for the Heartland

Next my little Christmas elf and I headed to Whole Foods and nearly cleaned them out of yogurt. 15 quarts, 20 individual cups, 24 kids yogurts, and 5 grocery bags later, we were ready to deliver our Stonyfield goodies to the Food Bank for the Heartland!

And thanks to Stonyfield’s generosity, I was also able to add in a handful of coupons for free yogurt for the food bank to hand out at their mobile pantry! The staff was incredibly grateful for the donation and I know it will be put to wonderful use for families in need.

Child Saving Institute

We stumbled upon our final act of Christmas cheer on accident while we were waiting in line to see Santa. A radiothon to support Omaha’s Child Saving Institute was going on in the atrium where we were standing in line, and they were sooooo close to their goal!

We wanted to do our part, so Jeff ran to an ATM to get out some cash for the girls to place in their donation box.

As the final donations rolled in, the fundraiser reached $52,630! This money will impact the lives of countless children here in Omaha, and I’m happy our family was a small part of their success.

Many thanks to Stonyfield for encouraging our family to find new ways to give back this holiday season! And M00-ry Christmas to you and yours ;)
